5150 Pre Workout Review: Is It Really High Stim? NEW Formula

Rich Piana founded 5% Nutrition with the sole intention of delivering high-quality products. Unfortunately, Rich Piana passed away in 2017, but his legacy still continues!

5% Nutrition is still adding new products to their line and improving older products, which is what they did with the 5150 pre-workout.

This pre-workout was launched years ago which could mean that it contained outdated ingredients.

5150 is said to be a pre-workout high in stimulants and more for the hardcore stim junkies.

In this review, we will show you what's inside, our own experience, and if we would recommend using it as your go-to supplement.

What Is 5150?

Contents

5150 is a pre-workout supplement formulated by Rich Piana and distributed by 5% Nutrition. It contains more and higher dosages of stimulants than others making it perfect for people who like stims.

Pre-workout supplements like 5150 are made to improve your workout by giving you energy, focus, and strength while working out.

5150 5% nutrition review

On the official 5% Nutrition website they claim that 5150 has the following benefits of using:

  • Decrease Fatigue
  • Increase Focus
  • Boost Energy
  • Great Pumps

5150 comes in two different versions, they have the US formula and also a European(international) version which consists of less potent ingredients due to regulations.

5150 Ingredients

Before we go into the experiences with this pre-workout, let's first check the supplement facts to discover what's within.

With every supplement review, we tell our readers to examine the label before buying or using it. This is the only way to understand what you're putting in your body and if it's genuinely a good product.

The following ingredients are included in 5150:

  • 4000mg – L-Citrulline
  • 3000mg – Beta-Alanine
  • 2000mg – L-Taurine
  • 750mg – N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine
  • 500mg – Choline Bitrate
  • 200mg – Cocoa Alkaloid Extract
  • 45mg – Synephrine
  • 50mcg – Toothed Clubmoss
  • 513mg – Stim-Crazy Caffeine Complex containing 400mg caffeine, theobromine, Yerba mate extract, Alpha-Yohimbine, Green Coffee Bean Extract, and Gotu Kola Extract.

Unfortunately, they use a blend for the stimulants, so we could not see how much is in there. However, one thing is sure; they added 400mg caffeine from both anhydrous and malate.

400mg caffeine is on the high end, but we've seen it before in the I am God pre-workout. If you're not used to stimulants, you should definitely start out with half a scoop.

For the muscle pump, they added 4000mg L-Citrulline, which is a very common dosage but can be highly effective. We would call a dosage between 6000-9000mg perfect for nitric oxide boosting effects(1).

In the new formula, they increased the beta-alanine dosage from 2500mg to 3000mg. Beta-Alanine is responsible for the tingling feeling, which is totally harmless. Most importantly, it helps with muscle endurance and power output, making your workout even better.

As the focus ingredient, they added N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine, which is the fastest activating form of Tyrosine. This activates the adrenaline and noradrenaline hormones giving you the tunnel vision focus.

45mg Synephrine is added, which, in combination with caffeine, has been proven to increase physical performance(2). It seems like they also increased it from 30mg to 45mg.

Other notable ingredients are Alpha-Yohimbine. Sadly, we cannot see how much is added, but if we would need to guess, it's between 1-3mg. In combination with other stimulants, this powerful stimulant will undoubtedly result in a crazy energy rush.

The total serving size is 13,3 grams, which is average in terms of size. Other popular high stim pre-workouts like Wrecked contain 21,1 grams.

To conclude: The ingredients and dosage used are definitely more than average. They added a significant amount of stims, so you could say that this is a high-stim pre-workout and not for beginners.

Our Experience With 5150

Testing supplements is one of our favorite things to do, but we take it very seriously. Each supplement we test will be used multiple times(4-5) to give the most genuine review possible.

We noticed the following effects:

  • Energy
It gave us a sufficient boost in energy and it was something that lasted during the whole workout. The energy boost we got was very good and actually what we expected with the added stimulants.
  • Pumps
The pumps were average and not very spectacular. We did notice a difference, but it doesn't come close to real pump products.
  • Focus
The tunnel vision focus was definitely there and I really enjoyed using it.
  • Performance
Every time we used it our workouts were great. It gave us that little boost you need to get you through that last set.

Overall we liked using this product. We didn't notice too many side-effects except a little crash, but that is normal with the number of stimulants.

Taste & Pricing

A tub of 5150 will cost you around $35 and get you 30 servings, which is actually pretty good compared to other pre-workouts.

They currently have it in 4 different flavors: Blue Ice, Green Apple, Tropical Rage, and Wildberry.

For this review, we used Blue Ice and we really liked it, but it wasn't too spectacular.

To Conclude

5150 is a high stimulant pre-workout that will give you an exceptional boost in energy. It's not the most stacked pre-workout on the market, but it's perfect for people that are just looking to get a rush of power.

The price of $35 makes it a perfect product to use regularly. However, we personally prefer using Wrecked by Huge Nutrition because it has added ingredients like betaine anhydrous and agmatine sulfate.
